My notebook does not recognise my dvd writer?

I own a dvd and cd writer on the same settle cable and I have the dvd writer set as the master but my notebook says the drive does not exist. I own checked the ide cable and it is plugged within properly and so is the power cable to both drives.

My notebook does not recognise my dvd writer?

if i understand correct, u own a cd writer already installed & now you are trying to make the addition of a dvd writer

this dvd writer you are installing on same ide dike / cable as the cd writer ... correct ... with jumpering dvd writer > primary & cd writer > subsidiary

now, remove settle cable connection from cd writer & connect to dvd writer

i penny-pinching only one device on settle cable ... & boot up

enter set-up / bios & check if it reflect change

then boot os & see if it shows & works fine

adjectives ok, then attach the cd writer with proper jumpering set to slave, if dvd writer is set primary

best of luck, chum

& lemme know results plz
